Are you returning to work or school after concussion and/or whiplash but still need some support to create balance between work, life, and rest?

At Inner Radiance, receive restorative bodywork along with supportive encouragement while learning practical, self-care techniques to soothe and moderate post concussion symptoms.

In the weeks or months after medically diagnosed concussion or whiplash, healing advice almost always includes rest, which helps alleviate symptoms. Too little rest can aggravate or intensify post-concussion symptoms, often leading to exhaustion. Restorative bodywork will not only help soothe aching muscles, it provides a time for deep rest, where inner restoration begins.

Therapeutic Massage

Massage for Head, Neck & Shoulder Injury

Calming massage, provided without excess force for those experiencing pain and muscle stiffness due to injury, repetitive strain, or emotional stress. This style massage, targeted for head / neck & shoulder issues or injuries, eases painful tension that often restricts comfortable range-of-motion.

A session will include a blend of massage (also including arms, back, legs, and feet, but to a lesser degree) and myofascial release techniques, passive/assisted gentle stretching, restorative yoga positioning and alignment, calming breathing techniques, and energy balancing.

Craniosacral Therapy

Rest for Brain and Body

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on practice that complements, or enhances, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Nourishing the central nervous system in this way supports proper functioning of the body's nervous system, aiding muscular relaxation and circulation.

Bringing the body into a deeply relaxed state allows the body to access its own ability to refresh. After a CST session clients often report feeling deeply rested, feeling less tension, and a greater sense of ease.

Reiki

Light-touch Healing Modality

A Reiki session provides time for calm, setting the stage for bringing the autonomic nervous system out of the sympathetic state of fight/flight/freeze that we have become so accustomed to, into the parasympathetic state where the body/mind/spirit has a chance to rest & refresh.

Reiki is a Japanese style of hands-on healing known for its benefits of decreasing stress and tension. It is a gentle form of bodywork in which one rests fully clothed on a treatment table, covered for warmth, while the practitioner/facilitator, places hands on (or just off) the body in patterns that encourage relaxation.

Yoga

Unwind, Settle, and Move with greater ease

Explore range-of-motion and gentle yoga postures (Asana) in private or small group setting. Each session will be targeted to what you need on that day.

Learn the benefits of intentional breath during stretching & balancing postures. Learn to identify places where you hold tension and find your place of ease with movement.

Experience the calmness of Savasana (deep relaxation) at the end of each 60-minute session.

Holly Jenness, RN, LMT

Holly Jenness, RN, LMT offers therapeutic and restorative Massage, Craniosacral therapy, Yoga, and Reiki through Inner Radiance, LLC~ wellness for body & soul in Portsmouth, NH and Newbury, MA.

Holly’s practice is rooted in mindfulness, raising awareness of the connection between mind and body. She has worked in both traditional medicine and wellness fields for over 30 years.

She specializes in working with adults and teens with post-acute head, neck, and shoulder injuries in addition to relaxation massage as part of a healthy lifestyle plan. 1:1 yoga sessions focus on alignment to bring ease to yoga practice or daily activities; Reiki sessions aid either pre- or post- surgery healing.

Holly offers "Mindful Living after Concussion" (or concussion coaching) for those returning to work or school after injury who are still experiencing physical tension and headaches that interfere with daily life, often as an adjunct to other modalities.

Holly trained in manual and energetic therapies at Kripalu School of Massage, the John Harvey Gray Center for Reiki, and CST Alliance. Beyond her nursing education at UNH, she holds a health-coaching certificate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. In 2021 Holly added a 200-hour Pranotthan Yoga teaching certification, bringing her love and longtime practice of yoga, bodywork, meditation, and meditation-in-motion full circle.

Welcome to Inner Radiance! At your first visit, I am open to knowing what you are looking for, what type of work you need, and to learn your intentions to create individually tailored sessions.

Each session will include any of the following in a stand-alone session or as a blend of modalities including: Massage, Craniosacral therapy, Myofascial release, Thai Yoga Bodywork (passive assisted progressive stretching), meditative breathing and mind/body awareness techniques. Other options include Reiki and Yoga, along with plenty of encouragement - especially for those healing from concussion. Longer sessions allow for more modalities to be included.

Many people ask about how frequently they should schedule sessions... I generally recommend a minimum of 2 - 3 followup sessions, scheduled 'sooner rather than later', such as every other week initially to know if this work is helpful for you (especially if you are in the early stages of healing or have not had bodywork in a long while). However it is always your option to schedule sessions as you like.
